A Closing Note
You have just read every road that exists after Class 10 in Karnataka. Fifty pathways, six roads, and the careers at the end of each.
If one thing stays with you, let it be this: you are not choosing your whole life at Class 10. You are choosing the next step. Every pathway in this book keeps going after the first job — into further study, into government service, into research, into work of your own, into senior roles years later. We wrote them that way on purpose, because a student choosing a course deserves to see the whole road.
And roads connect. A trade certificate reaches a diploma. A diploma reaches a degree. An Arts degree reaches the civil services. Doors reopen far more often than families fear.
What to do next
If you are in Class 8 or 9, do nothing yet. Put this book somewhere you will find it again. Pick it up when your Class 10 year starts.
If you are in Class 10, read Part Two once more before your results arrive. Then choose your stream knowing what each one opens and what it closes.
Whatever class you are in, before you or your family pay any college anything, check the regulator named at the end of that pathway. It takes ten minutes and it is the only protection there is.
How this book was made
Every course duration, entrance exam, eligibility rule and admission route in this book was checked against the authority responsible for it — among them the National Medical Commission, the Dental Council of India, the Indian Nursing Council, the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions, the Pharmacy Council of India, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the Veterinary Council of India, the National Council for Teacher Education, the Directorate General of Training, the Karnataka Examinations Authority, the Union Public Service Commission, the Council of Architecture and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
Where a rule is contested or in transition — and several are — this book says so rather than pretending it is settled.
The book carries no rupee figures, no exam dates and no advertising. Fees and salaries change every year and cannot be corrected once a book is printed; a stale figure is worse than none, because families plan around it. Dates change too, and a wrong date costs a student a year. For both, the official portal named in the reference section is the answer, and it is always current.
No college paid to appear in these pages. There is nothing to buy, and nobody to call.
If you find a mistake
Rules change, and some of them will change after this was printed. If something here no longer matches what the regulator says, the regulator is right and this book is wrong. Tell us, and the next edition will be better for it.
