Because fewer people can repair a board, a good repairer in a town has little competition.

Good hands and eyes for small work come first, with curiosity enough to open things up. You can deal with a customer standing in front of you, or stay careful around electricity while a factory line waits on you.

Bench work in a service centre or your own shop, finding the one failed component with a meter and an oscilloscope. Other days you are on customer premises fitting CCTV, or on a factory floor tracing signals inside a panel.

Many products are now built to be replaced rather than repaired. The people who do well combine repair with installation and service contracts, learn networking for camera work, and start from an ITI confirmed as DGT (NCVT) affiliated. A diploma in Electronics and Communication stays reachable through lateral entry.
