Banking & Finance

B.Com / BBA, then a recruitment exam · 3–4 Years

A public-sector bank job is won by an exam, not by your degree or its marks.

Patience with people, steadiness under repetition and the will to prepare seriously for a competitive exam come first; branch banking suits someone who values stability and a defined career ladder. Risk work usually comes after some years in credit, audit or operations.

Branch life: opening accounts, checking documents, processing loan applications and facing customers all day, while selling insurance and investment products against a target. Transfers to another town or state are a normal part of a branch career.

The degree alone is not the job. After it — B.Com, BBA, Economics, or any other subject — you sit a separate recruitment exam: IBPS for public-sector banks, others for SBI and RBI Grade B. Preparation usually takes a year or more. Private-sector banks hire directly and move faster, with more sales pressure.
