Engineering is not one subject but thirteen branches, and each asks for different things.
Breaking a big problem into small ones is how you like to work, and repeated failure does not put you off. Every branch needs Maths; beyond that, some lean on Physics, others on Chemistry or Biology, so follow the subject you enjoy.
Depending on the branch, you are writing and fixing code, testing circuits, on a factory floor or building site, or running a plant in shifts. Software is more thinking than typing; young civil engineers spend serious time on site.
In fashionable branches like AI, many colleges renamed departments without changing what they teach, so read the subject list. Electronics and mechanical graduates often drift into software; if you want core work, seek internships early. Afterwards come many doors: an M.Tech, an MBA, or GATE into a public-sector company.
