Geography

GIS is the most employable part of geography, and it depends most on work outside class.

Maps appeal to you, and so do software and data, with a little physics and statistics. You are careful about accuracy and patient about checking results against the ground.

In GIS and remote sensing, mostly desk and software work: building and cleaning spatial datasets, processing satellite imagery, running analyses and producing maps others decide from, with occasional field checks. Preparing the data takes far longer than analysing it, and large datasets increasingly mean writing code.

Colleges vary enormously in laboratory access; if yours is weak, learn open-source GIS yourself and build a portfolio of real maps. Town planner posts generally need an M.Plan; ISRO recruits at postgraduate level, and many of its scientist posts prefer physics, engineering or computer science, so a geography route there is possible but narrower.
