Mechanic Trade (Motor Vehicle)
ITI (NCVT) Mechanic Motor Vehicle · 2 Years + apprenticeship
Vehicles are turning electronic faster than most workshops can keep up.
You are curious about how a vehicle works, and when something goes wrong you trace the fault instead of replacing parts and hoping. You do not mind dirty hands, heavy components or a whole day on your feet.
You work under and inside vehicles, with a service advisor pushing for the next job. Diesel work can take you to a roadside or a field where a machine has stopped.
The first year or two is mostly washing, oil changes and the jobs nobody else wants; the ones who watch and ask become mechanics. Later, a Mechanical or Automobile diploma is open to you by lateral entry. Learn to read a wiring diagram and use a scan tool, and get formal training before touching an electric vehicle.
