Teaching — Integrated B.A B.Ed / B.Sc B.Ed (ITEP)

ITEP — dual major in Education and a teaching subject · 4 Years

ITEP starts straight after Class 12 and saves a year over a degree followed by a B.Ed.

Liking children as much as your subject is the starting point; you need both. Patience with a child who is not getting it counts for a great deal, and if you can explain an idea several ways, or demonstrate it with household objects, a classroom will suit you.

Teaching several classes a day, preparing lessons, correcting written work, and working out where a particular child got lost. Depending on your subject, that stretches to assemblies, sports days, science fairs or board-exam preparation.

Leave midway and you hold neither a degree nor a teaching qualification, so be reasonably sure before you enter. Government posts still need the state TET and recruitment. In its favour, the integrated degree is set to become the minimum teaching qualification, progressively replacing the standalone B.Ed.

Who can apply
Passed Class 12 in any stream. ITEP is taken straight after school rather than after a degree, so it saves a year compared with the older degree-then-B.Ed route.
