Teaching — B.Ed and D.El.Ed

D.El.Ed / B.Ed · D.El.Ed 2 Years (after Class 12) · B.Ed 2 Years (after a degree)

Your D.El.Ed or B.Ed is not the last step; government posts also need TET or CTET.

Primary teaching, the most consequential teaching in the whole system, needs warmth, organisation and the patience to repeat something twenty times without irritation. Secondary classes suit graduates who know their subject, like young people at a difficult age and keep order without shouting.

In a primary school you spend the whole day with the same small children, teaching every subject and handling records, meals and parents. Secondary teachers take five or six periods a day, and adolescents test authority.

The two routes lead to different classrooms. D.El.Ed, after Class 12, is the route to primary teaching, Classes 1 to 5; B.Ed, after a degree, leads to secondary teaching, and a B.Ed alone does not qualify you for primary posts. Check NCTE recognition on ncte.gov.in before paying any fee.

Who can apply
D.El.Ed needs Class 12 in any stream with about 50% and is the route to PRIMARY teaching (Classes 1-5). B.Ed needs a completed bachelor degree and leads to secondary teaching. This distinction matters: following NCTE rules and a Supreme Court ruling, a B.Ed alone does not qualify you for primary-teacher posts.
