Life Sciences

B.Sc · 3 Years (4 Years Honours under NEP)

A biotechnology syllabus advertises gene editing; the everyday jobs are in diagnostics.

Biology and Chemistry pulled you equally, and you are meticulous about procedure and cleanliness. A week of work lost to one contaminated culture should not break you. If computing appeals too, bioinformatics joins the two — but only if you write code every week.

Bench work in diagnostic, food, pharmaceutical or water-testing laboratories: preparing samples, growing cultures, running instruments, keeping careful records through long protocols. A hospital laboratory means high-volume testing on automated machines. Bioinformatics is desk work: scripts and debugging.

In most of these subjects the masters is what turns a laboratory assistant into a specialist, so enter planning to study further. Demand itself is steady: hospitals, food companies, pharmaceutical plants and water authorities all need microbiology, and clinical research hires life science graduates in volume.
