What suits me

Read these six sentences. One or two will sound like you. That is where to start reading among the pathways — not because the sentence has decided anything, but because it is a better starting point than a blank page.

"I like Maths and Science, and I think I want to be a doctor or an engineer."

Start with PUC Science.

"I like numbers, business, money and how companies work."

Start with PUC Commerce.

"I like languages, people, history, arguing a point, or writing."

Start with PUC Arts.

"I would rather build and repair real things than sit through two more years of theory."

Start with Diploma, and read ITI straight afterwards.

"I want to learn a skill properly and start earning as soon as I can."

Start with ITI, and read Vocational straight afterwards.

"I need to be earning quickly, and a short course would suit my family's situation."

Start with Vocational, and read ITI straight afterwards.

If none of them sounds like you, that is fine and it is common at Class 8. Read the pathways from the first one instead. The point of this book is that you should see all fifty pathways at least once before anyone asks you to pick one.

If you do not know where to start, start here

Find something below that sounds like you. Nothing here is a test and nothing here decides anything — these are doorways into the pathways, written in the words you already use rather than the words the education system uses.
